Alfonso Lo Cascio, freelance journalist, has been involved in cultural volunteering for years. He is the regional President of BCsicilia, the regional association that deals with the protection and valorisation of cultural and environmental assets. He also created the Popular University of Termini Imerese. He is the director of “Espero”, a magazine of culture, politics and information.

Already a member of the editorial staff of the authoritative periodical “Segno” and collaborator of the prestigious weekly “Centonove”, his writings appear in various newspapers and periodicals. He was also Director of “I storie di Luvi”, a quarterly magazine of literature, poetry and culture, and founder of the Don Lorenzo Milani publishing house. He is the Director of the magazine “Galleria, a six-monthly review of culture, homeland history, literary and artistic sciences and Sicilian antiquity”. He has given talks and speeches at many conferences and round tables.

He has published: “Castles and Towers of the coast, from Termini to Solanto”, “Himerensis, Agenda of the villages of the Termitan area”, “The reserve of Pizzo Cane, Pizzo Trigna and Grotta Mazzamuto”, “Ascuta lu cantu, anthology of poets of the district of Termini, Cefalù, Madonie”, “A simple hero”. He edited the volume “The future of cities. Memory, identity, beauty, new humanism”. His latest book “1943: the Reconquista of Europe.

From the Casablanca Conference to the landing in Sicily” is enjoying great success and was presented at the Turin Book Fair. For his cultural commitment he was awarded the “Four Archangels”, “Sikelè”, “Gaia”, “Civitas”, “La Campana di Burgio”, “Paolo Amato – Città di Ciminna” and “Kermesse 2023” awards.
