Descriptive text here

The Summer camp starts again: it was approved by the Emilia-Romagna Region through the European Social Fund Plus, the new project “Digital Girls 2024 ER”, after the success of the 2023 edition, this time too the operation was promoted by Tutor Scarl in collaboration with the Municipality of Piacenza, the Province of Piacenza, the Polytechnic of Milan, the Sacred Heart Catholic University, the MUSP Consortium, the Leap Consortium and the Respighi High School, as the lead school of the PiacenzaOrienta Network.

This is an active orientation project which aims to introduce girls to digital, IT and their practical applications, in a fun and creative way, envisaging the continuation of studies in the IT/scientific field, also to obtain greater and interesting job opportunities.

The training activity

The training activity, organized in seminar workshops, will see the involvement of 20 students from the 3rd and 4th classes of secondary schools of the various addresses present in the province. The project will be carried out at the Polytechnic of Milan.

Furthermore, two new Summer Camps aimed at both girls and boys (always 3rd and 4th grade) as part of the ecological transition were approved by the Emilia-Romagna Region (these also promoted by Tutor and in collaboration with the Municipality of Piacenza, the Province of Piacenza, Municipality of Cerignale, Polytechnic of Milan, Sacred Heart Catholic University, MUSP Consortium, Enaip Piacenza, Leap Consortium and the Respighi High School, as the lead school of the PiacenzaOrienta Network.

Ecological transition

The first of the two Summer Camps is aimed at ecological transition in the organizational and management field, an active orientation project which aims to acquire skills relating to the environmental impact of the anthropisation of territories, including tourist activities, including mountain areas and further skills relating to the installation and eco-sustainable management of productive activities, in particular agricultural, tourist and natural resource management, starting from their planning up to administrative management. This Summer Camp will be held at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart.

The second Summer Camp, held at Tutor, will concern the ecological transition in the technological-productive field, an active orientation project in which participants will deal with data collection, visualization and analysis of air quality in the Piacenza area, through the use of language Python programming and finally with the design of an industrial component designed to be created with innovative production technologies with low environmental impact (recycled/recyclable materials) and innovative production techniques (additive manufacturing), using CAD and CAE technologies; the designed component will potentially be realizable with a 3D printer.

Laboratory activity

The laboratory activity will be integrated with guided visits to entities active in the technical/scientific field at a local level, in particular at the MUSP Consortium, a point of reference for advanced research and development in the machine tool sector and production systems in the province of Piacenza, and the LEAP Laboratory, a research center operating in the energy-environmental sector. The activity will take place during the summer period and will conclude by the start of the 2023-24 school year.

Comments

“I thank Tutor and all the institutional, academic and training partners who, together with the Municipality of Piacenza, contributed to the creation of this new edition of a very important project for us. The commitment to encourage the involvement and specialization of girls in STEM disciplines – underlines the councilor for Youth Policies, University and Research Francesco Brianzi – is a shared objective, which has significant implications not only in terms of highly qualified employment prospects, but it is part of that path of valorising the vocation for scientific research, innovation and environmental sustainability that our territory has undertaken thanks to the synergy between local authorities, secondary schools, universities, training centers and the components of our Technopole”.

“I believe – adds the president of the Province Monica Patelli – that these projects can represent a precious orientation and social opportunity for the girls and boys of high schools in our province, an important moment of reflection for the decisions to be made for the future. Initiatives like this allow us to open up perspectives to students that they had never thought of exploring: challenging job opportunities linked to the territory and scientific and technological innovation. It is important that institutions create opportunities to sow curiosity, enthusiasm and the desire to learn more in young people.”

“The Municipality of Cerignale – explains the mayor Fausta Pizzaghi – also intervenes in the project as a host Administration for the students involved, in order to illustrate what has been achieved in terms of environmental sustainability and ecological transition. On this occasion, a visit will be organized to the electrical power station which, by exploiting the richness of the element “water” present in the municipal area, produces energy. Another added value of our territory is the million trees for a population of 120 inhabitants, an enormous resource and important space for a “green economy”

“Tutor is a company at the service of people and the territory – concludes the director Mirco Potami – and it is only thanks to a network of collaboration with bodies and institutions that we have been able to implement an innovative design – approved by the Emilia-Romagna Region through the European Social Fund Plus – to give a further opportunity to girls and boys in our area”.
