The PlayOffs of the Techfind Women’s A1 Series began today, with the quarter-finals to be played in the best of 3 matches as well as the semi-final.
Today’s evening saw the conclusion of all Match 1 of the quarter-finals with 2 surprising results: Ragusa and Geas immediately overturned the field factor, while Reyer and Schio respected the predictions.
REYER VENICE – OXYGEN ROMA 85-63
The first quarter was very tense on the part of the lagoon players who immediately paid for the 7 turnovers and the 2 fouls called in a few seconds of play against Matilde Villa. VIRTUS BOLOGNA – RAGUSA 75-77
Ragusa started off strong immediately and took advantage of the great tension at Virtussina to play the first match in front of their own fans and closed the first half at 15-19. In the second quarter Zandalasini and Dojkic take the lead and lead their teammates to +10 41-31 at half time. Upon returning from the locker rooms, a partial score of 0-17 for the guests completely reopens the match where from then on the two teams respond blow for blow until the final 75-77 in favor of Ragusa. MAGNOLIA CAMPOBASSO – GEAS 70-76 after 2OT
Spectacular match at the PalaSelvapiana in Campobasso between the hosts and Geas. The score isn’t very high at the end of 50 minutes of play but it doesn’t matter because the defenses prevailed, with the “orange blossoms” being forced to chase again and again, finding their best weapon in Quinonez . She disappoints Mistinova a little, but Geas was good at ‘caging’ her. The visitors prevailed after 2 overtime with the final score of 70-76.
Now game 2 will be played on Sunday 28th at 6pm in Sesto San Giovanni, with the red-blacks having the first match point.
