LEGNANO – A recreational-sports event open to all sports clubs of the Deanery of Legnano, promoted by the Deanery Synodal Assembly, organized by the Deanery Synodal Assembly Sports Group with animator Carlo Bandera president of the Legnanesi Sports Associationswhich was held on Saturday 20 April from 10am to 12.30pm, at the Pace Sports Center in Legnano in via Pace.
The event was intended to be a concrete sign to express the desire for peace through the educational value of sport. As Pope Francis says, “Sport is not only a form of entertainment, but also a tool for communicating values that promote the good of the human person and contribute to the construction of a more peaceful and fraternal society.”
There “Happy and Winning” event it was a short, but intense sporting experience, in which clubs belonging to different sports, including a representation of Knights and the Carroccio of around 35 miniathletes, who challenged each other in motor games, skill courses, exciting “popular games” with a healthy competitive spirit.
It was an opportunity to experience a moment of meeting and celebration, interesting and different from the classic sporting challenges in which young athletes are normally involved. During the opening ceremony, a short relay took place composed of torchbearers belonging to all the participating clubs who will carry a torch to the brazier which will remain lit throughout the morning symbolizing “the light and heat” that the sporting experience releases as a sign of friendship and peace.
Carlo Bandera: “Felici e Vincenti wanted to involve the sporting aspect, creating an event in which the kids engaged in games different from normal sports, challenging each other in races, relays, gymkhanas, sack races, it was a great opportunity to express joy and the beauty of playing sports. Organizing this day together with the sports clubs was a beautiful moment of unity and friendliness, thinking something for our kids means paying attention to them, especially from an educational point of view”
