Fc Bari failure 1908: former referee Gianluca Paparesta acquitted

Gianluca Paparesta did not contribute to the failure of Bari football in 2018. As stated in the Corriere del Mezzogiorno this is what was established today by the Bari magistrate Rosa Caramia, who acquitted Paparesta (sole director and president of the club from March 2014 to June 2016) “because the fact does not exist” from some episodes of fraudulent bankruptcy and “because the fact does not constitute a crime” by others.

It was the Bari Prosecutor’s Office itself, during the last hearing, that requested Paparesta’s full acquittal for some cases of bankruptcy and for the intervention of the statute of limitations for another.

Paparesta himself was present in the courtroom to make some spontaneous statements: “I wanted to be present because this process is of vital importance to me. In addition to having paid all my life savings into the company’s coffers, during the management, to meet the heavy commitments, I also lost the property used as my professional studio in Bari, purchased with a bank loan together with the savings accumulated over the course of my more than ten-year professional career as an international football referee”.
