The fountain of shame in Torre del Greco: a cost of 100,000 euros for maintenance
The role of former city councilor Di Ruocco at the RDR: he will also take care of the underpass systems in Litoranea for two years
Greek’s tower. An expense of 100,000 euros to avoid the risk of once again seeing the ornamental fountains of via Roma and via Marconi transformed into stagnant and smelly “swamps”. It is the investment decided by the municipal administration led by mayor Luigi Mennella to try to solve the age-old problem of the (bad) functioning of the two tanks in the city center and the lifting systems of the railway underpasses present in the area.
Last week, in fact, the Palazzo Baronale body closed the “hunt” on the public administration’s electronic market aimed at identifying the “suitable” company to guarantee the ordinary and scheduled maintenance of the two ornamental fountains and the raising of the rainwater from the underpasses of Viale Europa, Via Honore Crescenzo Mazza – the two bridges in the coastal area constantly flooded with every downpour of rain – and Via Sotto ai Camaldoli.
«There is a need to guarantee the continuity of the service – we read in the provision signed by the architect Antonio Sarnello, manager of the planning policies, public works and maintenance sector of the Municipality – for the correct functioning of the systems also to protect public safety».
Despite the research on Me.Pa. – in which there are companies from all over Italy – the choice of the Largo Plebiscito body did not fall far: at the end of a direct negotiation through a request for offer, in fact, the 100.00 euro task was assigned to the Rdr of the former city councilor Francesco Di Ruocco, former “opposition colleague” of Luigi Mennella at the time of mayor Valerio Ciavolino.
«The objective set was the result in the most explicit sense of guaranteeing the correct execution of the services covered by the contract – we read in the provision with which the task was entrusted to the Rdr – of maximum timeliness and the best possible relationship between quality and price, considering that the services requested must guarantee the correct functioning of the systems to protect public safety”.
So, stop the “justifications” for the municipal administration: starting last week and for the next two years, the havoc at the ornamental fountains and the “accidents” at the underpasses in the Litoranea will remain just a memory.
