A day dedicated to remembering the legends of motor racing Ayrton Senna And Roland Ratzenberger: A free event will be held on May 1st at the Imola Autodrome to remember the exploits and great personalities of the two unforgettable drivers. Participants are required to wear the colors of the flags of Brazil and Austria, the champions’ countries of origin.

The event calendar: the initiatives

The day will begin at 9.30 with a dedicated walk in Senna and Ratzenberger, the traditional commemoration is scheduled for 1.30pm at the Tamburello variant, with the participation of local, national and international authorities. A moment of silence at 2.17pm, the precise time of Senna’s accident will be observed with the expected presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani and the Brazilian Minister Mauro Vieira. The memory of Ratzenberger will follow with the laying of flowers at the Villeneuve variant.

In the afternoon, at 4.30pm, an excerpt from Peter Levay’s documentary dedicated to Ratzenberger will be screened, followed at 4.45pm by the commemoration of Senna and the presentation of Franco Nugnes’ book “Senna – The truths”. At 9pm, on the starting straight of the Autodromo, a special event entitled “Me and Ayrton”a theatrical monologue accompanied by music and images on the relationship between the pilot and his fans.

At the Checco Costa museum, from 8am to 6pm, it will be possible to visit exhibitions of Ayrton memorabilia, with a section also dedicated to Ratzenberger. The area will offer activities throughout the day, with the switching on of the Ferris wheel and local and Brazilian culinary specialties.

From 12.30pm to 10pm, at the San Domenico museum, the “Magic” exhibition will be open to visitors with shots by Angelo Orsi and Mirco Lazzari. Palazzo Vacchi will be home to “ImolAyrton”, a photography exhibition by Marco Isola, open from 10am to 8pm.

The exhibition will be set up at the former Bacchilega bar “Senna between manga, comix and reality”while at Salannunziata it will be possible to visit the exhibition entitled “From ‘Ayrton Senna’ to the ‘Iron pictures’ – Stefano Pierotti: memory and the horizon”, curated by Vinicio Dall’Ara, which will retrace the memory of the Brazilian champion up to his recent artistic production.

Various initiatives are also planned in San Marino it’s at Turin: in the Piedmontese capital, the national automobile museum dedicates a large exhibition to Ayrton curated by Carlo Cavicchi entitled “Ayrton Senna Forever”with a selection of single-seaters and photos about his career.
