Bongiovanni (Cuneo Mia) asks for clarity on the issue of redevelopment of Piazza Europa

Wedge. Back to holding court in Town Council the question of redevelopment of Piazza Europa. The municipal councilor of Cuneo Mia Claudio Bongiovanniin fact, gave mayor Patrizia Manassero a question to be discussed at the next Council meeting next week, to better understand the state of the art of the square, ten months after the definitive abandonment of the underground car park project, confirmed in the meeting council meeting of June 2023. On that occasion Cuneo Mia had also asked to modify the master plan of the square to define it as a green area and no longer as a car park.

Following that decision, in fact, the administration had also met the prime minister in Rome to obtain a state contribution to be used for the subsequent redevelopment project of the square. In the Roman meeting, according to the words of councilor Pellegrino last June, the Piazza Europa area was confirmed as a social suburb and that for this reason permission had been obtained to redevelop only the square’s churchyard with the resources made available by the suburbs tender. In the following months the mayor also stated her availability for rapid planning “shared and participatory carried out by both the majority and minority council and council”, to develop a new project to be submitted to the Presidency of the Council for consideration.

Since the discussion never reached the City Council, Bongiovanni is now asking the mayor to view the document certifying the new agreements with the Presidency of the Council for understand whether the initial state contribution of €3,300,000 has been officially confirmed and to understand whether the need for a loan to be allocated to Piazza Europa is confirmed even after the failure of the underground car park project, what its amount and cost are. According to Bongiovanni, the timing also needs to be clarified updating the master plan as requested last June, and the figure of how much has been spent to date for the planning of the redevelopment of the square starting from all the projects relating to the underground car park.
