The 856th anniversary of Alexandria on May 3: program

ALEXANDRIA – Friday 3 May will occur on856th anniversary of the founding of the city of Alexandria. Many institutional events are planned, open to citizens. Below is the program:

10 am – Cathedral Church: Eucharistic celebration officiated by Monsignor Guido GalleseBishop of Alexandria
10.50 am – Welcome to the Town Hall of the local authorities and the recipients of the honors and civic merits and carrying out of City Council open dedicated to the city’s 856th birthday
12pm – Delivery of honors and civic merits
12.30 pm – Conclusion of the open City Council meeting

In the afternoon, to complement the solemn institutional moments of the morning, the program includes two further public events of particular importance:
4.15 pm – Welcome in the Court of the Town Hall of the Authorities, guests and institutional representatives
4.30 pm – Unveiling ceremony of the work-installation “9 chairs” (1993) – “Indefinito” series – by the contemporary artist from Alessandria Carlo Ciarli. Musical tribute by the Civica Banda Musicale “Cantone” of Alessandria and, following, transfer to the Civic Museum of Palazzo Cuttica (via Parma 1)
5pm – Inauguration ceremony of the exhibition of the glazed terracotta work “St. George” (1931-1938) by Lucio Fontana, part of the Civic Museum collections and never exhibited to the public in recent times, as a peculiar event of the “San Giorgio 2024” program in Alessandria.
