Ravenna, 24 April 2024 – Railway line Bologna-Ravenna-Rimini, changes coming. From 11.30pm Of Sunday May 12th at 5 am Friday August 16thbetween the railway stations Of Castel Bolognese and Russi (along the Bologna – Ravenna line), Italian Railway Network (lead company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group) will carry out an important intervention dthe renewal of the tracks. They will be positioned 50 kilometers of new rails (equal to 25 kilometers of double track), over 41,500 reinforced concrete sleepers replaced, as well as almost 20 thousand cubic meters of crushed stone restored, for a total investment of approximately 23 million euros.

Objective of the works increase the reliability of the line, including the stretch heavily damaged by last year’s floods. Around 80 technicians from the Italian Railway Network and contracting companies will be working on the construction sites, assisted by numerous construction vehicles. Among these are two real construction site trains, each approximately 500 meters long, which will be used in the ballast rehabilitation and track renewal phases respectively.

The activity will mainly take place overnightbut will lead to a temporary reduction in the capacity of the line with consequent changes to the program movement of trains. During the works it will be necessary to close some level crossings, when they interfere with the construction site areas, with changes to the road system which will be communicated in advance.

To allow for interventions maintenance on the linefrom Monday 13 May to Friday 16 August the train service on Bologna – Ravenna – Rimini line will be modified. In particular: in the period from 13 May to 6 July all regional trains between Bologna and Ravenna and between Bologna and Rimini via Ravenna will follow the route via Faenza.

The route between Castel Bolognese and Ravenna via Solarolo/Lugo/Bagnacavallo will be served by 21 train journeys, with a functional timetable to allow Castel Bolognese to interchange with trains diverted via Faenza. Overall travel times will be 60/65 minutes due to the slowdowns imposed by construction sites. Six train trips are also planned between Castel Bolognese and Lugo, integrated with as many bus trips connecting to and from Ravenna and two train trips between Castel Bolognese and Bagnacavallo. As regards the period included between July 7th and August 16thall regional trains between Bologna and Ravenna and between Bologna and Rimini via Ravenna will follow the route via Faenza.

The route between Castel Bolognese and Ravenna via Solarolo/Lugo/Bagnacavallo will be served by 21 train journeys, with a functional timetable to allow Castel Bolognese to interchange with trains diverted via Faenza. Overall travel times will drop to 54/56 minutes due to the progress of construction sites. Furthermore, 12 train trips are scheduled between Castel Bolognese and Russi. The purchasing systems are updated up to the date of Saturday 8 June, last day of validity of the winter timetable. The inclusion of the summer offer is underway.
