Drug dealers cleared out in Trapani, ten arrested Italpress news agency

TRAPANI (ITALPRESS) – In Trapani, the State Police, delegated by the District Directorate of Palermo, in charge of the investigations, implemented a restrictive precautionary measure against 10 subjects from Trapani, of which 6 men and 4 women, seriously suspected , in various capacities, of belonging to a criminal association dedicated to drug dealing, active in the popular neighborhood of San Giuliano. Of the 10 arrested, 7 were placed in prison and 3 under house arrest. Two other suspects were subjected, for the same facts, to the mandatory stay measure.
The investigative activity, started in September 2020, would have documented, until December 2022, the particular criminal activism of an entire family unit, rooted in the working-class neighborhood of San Giuliano and dedicated to the retail sale of cocaine, crack and hashish. The head of the family, a 40-year-old from Trapani with specific precedents, is considered by investigators to be the leader and promoter of the organization; the man, together with his ex-wife, would have used, firstly, two houses and a garage as drug dealing places in the aforementioned neighborhood and, later, an entire square in the neighborhood. The buildings, with armored doors and windows, protected by iron bars, would have been manned 24 hours a day by a network of pushers who, in turn, would have sold the narcotics to the numerous buyers, at any time of the day or night; on the perimeter walls of the properties, the association would also have installed cameras, necessary to check the identity of the buyers who accessed the property.
The investigations, conducted by the investigators of the Trapani Flying Squad, would have ascertained that the transfers of the substance took place through the grates, which always remained closed, probably with the aim of hindering any sudden raids by the police forces. After some searches carried out by State Police investigators, the association, probably to avoid the danger of new seizures and, therefore, new losses of narcotics and money, entrusted the drug supply to three women in the neighbourhood, deemed ‘unsuspected’, leaving in the drug dealing locations, only the quantity intended for daily sales. The three women, who today’s provision subjected to house arrest, in December 2020, were arrested by the Trapani Flying Squad, as part of the same proceeding, because they found 366 grams of cocaine available.
The investigation also made it possible to identify the suppliers of the narcotic: they are three from Trapani, with specific precedents, two of whom were subjected to precautionary custody in prison, the third to the obligation to stay. To obtain the narcotic, the three, in some cases, would have relied on the nearby province of Palermo. During the investigations, approximately 530 grams of cocaine and crack and over 120 grams of hashish were seized; however, the investigations would have made it possible to document almost two hundred supplies of narcotics. According to a rough estimate, the partnership’s turnover was around 2000 euros per day. The investigative findings, summarized in the order of the Judge for preliminary investigations, would have shown that the head of the family, together with his ex-wife, would have used, among others, one of the children of the couple, who were minors at the time. The Juvenile Court ordered precautionary custody in prison against the boy, which was carried out this morning together with other restrictive measures.
