All thirteen of Novara’s fountains have been reactivated with a huge 90 thousand euro intervention by Assa. Some, following the restoration operation, also began to light up at night again. This was announced by the president of the company Yari Negri: «It is the first time in years that we can see them all working perfectly». The last fountain they worked on, Negri continues, «was the one in front of the construction site of the Carlo Alberto classical high school. It is the same one that we wanted to enhance by posting photographs of the water features illuminated with various colors on our Social page. We found it a nice way to announce the end of the work.”
In addition to that of the high school, the other fountains are scattered around the city between the Casa Alessia roundabout, Largo Donatori di Sangue, Piazza Matteotti, Largo Don Minzoni, Via Perugia, Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza del Popolo, Largo Sacro Cuore di Gesù , via Valsesia, the allea and the Children’s Park. «We spent more time on the high school one – says Negri – with an intervention that lasted all winter to restore it correctly. For almost all the others, however, it was a less difficult maintenance: we only had to fix or change the water pumps, also cleaning the filters that serve to purify the liquids, the electrical panels with the light and lighting systems”. The fountain in Largo Don Minzoni, however, represented an exception: «When it was built, before the pandemic, it remained lit for only two days and then went out. The intervention to get it back on track lasted several months: our team worked in full lockdown, redesigning the entire plumbing system from scratch.”
All the fountains, adds Negri, «are active 24 hours a day and almost all are illuminated with colors ranging from pale fuchsia to green and blue». After this redevelopment by Assa, they will no longer have to undergo major maintenance works, but only some touch-ups on a regular basis: «We will check the water filters and electrical panels weekly, the cleaning of the tanks will tend to be on a monthly basis».
