The Pantelleria runner Dario Ferrante at the “3rd City of Messina Trophy” • Front Page

It is another good goal achieved by Dario Ferrante at the “bronze level” national competition which was held in Messina last Sunday. A road race organized by Podistica Messina which saw the participation of 320 athletes who covered via Garibaldi four times starting from number 114 (Il Cavallino Caffè), with the addition of an initial half ring. For a total of 10 kilometers on asphalt. Not exactly Ferrante’s favorite race, that’s true. The Pantelleria runner is in fact passionate about marathons, those in which you have to run many more kilometers over long distances.

“However, I also wanted to participate in this race because I was a member of Universitas Palermo, a company federated with FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation),” Dario tells us. “At the moment I am preparing a new marathon, the Battle Marathon which will be run in Curtatone (Mantua) on May 12th. I am therefore in a period with a rather high mileage load.”

Dario was specifically asked to participate in this 10 km race which he finished in 34 minutes and 14 seconds, taking fifth place overall in the region and fourth in his category (SEN, Seniores). “An excellent result that I didn’t expect” concludes Dario. “It’s a distance I can definitely improve on. I can give more because if I reduced the kilometers a little and worked more on speed I would certainly be able to shave off a few minutes on this distance. But I like long distances and so for now that’s fine.”

The passion that Dario puts into running is something truly extraordinary. As he writes on his Facebook page “the race is the last thing, it is just the culmination of the passion, the training, the love I have for this sport. I run every day, I love doing it, for me it’s like eating. I eat every day, I run every day. What’s strange? I could talk about it for hours trying to explain what it feels like, but it’s impossible to understand unless you start running. Do sports, run, you will understand how wonderful it is.”
