Bolzano – La Flying Squad from the State Police carried out against an Italian citizen of 30 years Of Moroccan origins, and his mother, 64 years old, both with specific precedents for similar mistreatment towards the man’s previous partner, the precautionary measure of the approach ban issued by the Gip of the court of Bolzano for the crimes of mistreatment in the family and sexual violence aggravated committed against a young 24-year-old, also a Moroccan citizen, respectively wife and daughter-in-law of the suspects, who arrived in Italy a few weeks ago with the dream of starting a new happy life alongside her husband.

The investigation conducted by the Flying Squad began a couple of weeks ago following the complaint filed by the victim, and made it possible to find confirmation of what she reported during a harrowing testimony collected by the investigators thanks to the help of an interpreter .

The young bride reported how she was prevented from leaving the house independently and, on those rare occasions when she went out accompanied by her husband or mother-in-law, she was forced to wear a veil.

The situation suddenly worsened last April 6, when her husband caused her various injuries: the girl, taking advantage of a moment of distraction between the two, fled from the house and reached the police station, indicated to her by some passers-by.
Here she told the police how her husband and her mother-in-law had repeatedly carried out seriously abusive behavior towards her both from a physical and psychological point of view, even carrying out acts of actual aggravated sexual violence, only to then be forced to have sexual relations with man as deemed necessary for free him from a curse, all in the presence of the mother-in-law intent on performing magical rites to propitiate the healing of her son from a dysfunction.

At the end of her terrible testimony, the girl was placed by the police in a protected facility, where she is provided with continuous and qualified assistance.

In light of what emerged from this terrible affair, the police commissioner of Bolzano Paolo Sartori has disposed towards the two suspects – mother and son – the personal prevention measure of the warning, as well as starting the procedure for the revocation of the residence permit for the former.

Gender violence, in addition to representing a particularly hateful form of crime as it is committed to the detriment of victims who are often unable to defend themselves, represents a serious cultural problem – highlighted Commissioner Sartori -. In this case, moreover, the physical and psychological violence was aggravated by the performance of magical rites, by forcing the victim to wear the veil and by preventing her from leaving the house.

The State Police represents a fundamental hub of a network made up of institutions, local bodies, anti-violence centers and voluntary associations, and has always been at the forefront, even with specific projects, in encouraging a culture of gender equality, equality and respect for freedoms, with the aim of eliminating cultural heritage and discrimination, as well as with the aim of helping women to defend themselves, to ask for help and to report the violence they have suffered”.
