Thanks to a fruitful collaboration between Municipality of Fiumicino, Rome Airports and Lagardère Travel Retailthe Tommaso Forti park in Via Lorenzo Bezzi has, from today, a new green vision, with the planting of one hundred new trees, located in all the green spaces of the area.

Present at the event were the Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Fiumicino, Giovanna Onoratithe President of the City Council Roberto Severini and the Environment Councilor Stefano Costaas well as other members of the council and the city council.

The Deputy Mayor Giovanna Onorati wanted to thank the representatives of Adr and Lagardère for the donation of the trees. “This as evidence of how much the relationships of collaboration between the Administration and Rome Airports are always active and proactivein particular for the well-being and valorisation of the environmental and tourist resources present in the area – points out – how a public park is the heart and soul of a city, and nerve center of growth and entertainment for the new generations“.

The Councilor for the Environment Stefano Costa reiterated the Administration’s commitment to the protection and safeguarding of all public parks in the area. “The collaboration with Aeroporti di Roma will also soon allow the installation, again at Parco Forti, of ten picnic areas with sunshade gazebos. All this will allow families to experience the park in safety and with greater comfort even for the adults themselves.”

The planting project was managed by Wow Nature and Etifor, highly specialized environmental consultancy company, born as a spin-off within the Territory Department of the University of Padua. At the Tommaso Forti Park the company has planted various species of trees including ash, elm and plane trees. These plants have rapid growth and strong resistance to dryness, as well as being characterized by a tall trunk full of trees, precisely to allow for a vast amount of natural shaded areas. The trees all have the characteristic of being resistant over time, with porous leaves that effectively retain pollutants, as well as guaranteeing biodiversity for pollinating insects. In the spring and autumn periods the trees will feed themselves while for the summer and winter a regular irrigation intervention has been planned.

The Rome Airports have confirmed what was declared by the Municipal Administration with respect to mutual and profitable collaborative relationships achieved through this initiative and other projects planned for the future, such as the donation of the park’s picnic areas.

The Lagardère company also highlighted the importance of such projects of environmental redevelopment and livability achieved thanks to a strong commitment to eco-sustainability.

At the end of the event, the representatives of the Municipal Administration, together with those of Aeroporti di Roma and Legardere, planted the last of the hundred trees present at the Tommaso Forti Park, testifying to the commitment of a team that works with perseverance and stubbornness for the good of the community.
