“They don’t understand shit…”. The Democratic Party explodes after the knockout in Basilicata: the revolt against the leaders
Descriptive text here

The election night of Basilicata – to paraphrase an ancient adage – he did not “bring advice” to the at all Democratic party: On the contrary. When, late in the evening, the Lucanian regional elections had largely delivered the success of the reconfirmed Vito Bardi for the centre-right, the attacks began to be officially launched against both the local and (above all) national leaders of the Dem movement. Because it may be okay to lose – and one time more or one less for the left doesn’t make that big of a difference – but there is a limit to everything and the fourteen points behind between the two competing coalitions cannot be dismissed so quickly.

The total explosion of the PD exponents exploded in Potenza shortly after one in the morning between Monday and Tuesday. The electoral committee of Piero Marrese has already been thoroughly emptied, turned off and sealed a while ago, because the result of the polls has been known for hours now and it is useless to wait for an impossible comeback in the overall count of 682 sections: with 56% to 42% in Bardi’s favor there is very little to hope for. So much so that Marrese himself has already telephoned the re-elected governor at dinner time to recognize his victory and congratulate him. And so we witness two completely different scenes: on the one hand there is the Forza Italia headquarters celebrating and toasting at the La Primula Hotel in the presence of the former general of the Guardia di Finanza, loudly acclaimed by acquaintances and friends between hugs and selfies, on the other there is only “sadness in spades”, to put it like Maccio Capatonda.

All the general discomfort is represented by the annoyed reaction of aimportant leader of the Lucanian Democratic Party, who arrived near the headquarters of the Basilicata Region to be able to follow more closely the final stages of the counting which still had to decide the names of the councilors elected on the basis of the preferences taken by them personally and from their own lists. The man’s face is visibly angry. For a few minutes he manages to hold back all his anger while checking the data updates on the screens of Palazzo Verrastro, then – urged by one of his collaborators who pleonastically asks him how things are going – he continually shakes his head and vents his anger with a phrase that leaves no stone unturned. possibility of misunderstanding: “Absolute disgusting… but do you know what the truth is? It’s that in Rome we only have co…s who don’t understand shit about this territory”.

No need to decrypt further. The Democratic Party representative obviously has it in for him Elly Schlein and with all the national (and, for the branches, local) leaders who ruined a candidacy that everyone in the Potenza area considered very strong and competitive like that of Angelo Chiorazzo, then discarded to give a sop to the 5 stars: “Those over there aren’t even voted for by their dogs anymore,” he adds angrily. A choice that also caused the rift with the king of preferences, Marcello Pittella. “Look at this – the PD leader continues indignantly -. Take away 7% of Action from them and add it to us: How does it end? Now we would have been paired there”. An arithmetic reasoning that has its own foundation, although in politics the sum almost never adds up to the total.

And, if all this isn’t enough, there is also a way to laugh bitterly at the flop of candidate Antonello Molinari (considered historically close to Roberto Speranza) who was in fact unable to be elected as a regional councillor. Finally, a forecast on the submission of applications for the European which will have to be closed on April 30: “Just see: in our constituency Decaro he will place all his people and Basilicata will not have a single representative in the European Parliament. I’m not saying an elected official, but not even a candidate”. An outburst which – it is expected – could have serious repercussions in the Democratic Party precisely on the occasion of the electoral appointment for Brussels and Strasbourg which will be held in a month and a half. And a friendly fire against the Nazarene as a sign of Lucanian revenge.

Has the countdown begun for Schlein? We’ll see.
