Girogustando, in the lands of Siena it is almost Giro time: on the roads but also at the table, and even in the spa facilities; Monday 6 May, on the first day of the week that will bring the Giro d’Italia from Viareggio to Rapolano, the Crete Senesi will be the setting for a four-handed haute cuisine meeting.
Three days after the passage of the cycling caravan, the Roman Restaurant of Viareggio will move for an evening to Olivo, the restaurant of the Terme San Giovanni di Rapolano. This will be the first act of the new season of Girogustando, the Confesercenti event that has brought chefs from all over Italy together in Tuscany for 23 years.
A first level act, given the protagonists: in Viareggio Romano is a historic establishment, almost 60 years of activity dotted with various awards, above all the Michelin Star (uninterrupted from 1985 to today), for a kitchen team led today by Carrarino Nicola Gronchi. Who in the kitchen of the spa resort will find Claudio Porro: a native of Poggibonsi, trained at the “Pellegrino Artusi” hotel institute in Chianciano Terme, apprenticed at the Gallo nero di Siena and then valuable experiences with Nello Cassese (in Castel Monastero), Marco Stabile and and lastly, Jason Atherton’s Social Company (16 starred restaurants around the world).
For the “premiere” of Girogustando, the unprecedented gastronomic experience will be served to the public on the suggestive terrace of the San Giovanni Terme, overlooking the swimming pools and the Crete Senesi, thus enhancing the values of Vetrina Toscana, the project of the Tuscany Region in collaboration with Unioncamere which enhances the short food and wine supply chain, the quality of artisanal production and the territory.
During the evening of Girogustando with the Roman Restaurant of Viareggio hosted by Olivo, the restaurant of the Terme San Giovanni di Rapolano, interventions inspired by the sporting event that will link Viareggio and Rapolano Terme on 9 May are also planned: all the details on www. girogustando.tv and on www.vetrina.toscana.it.
