Afragola shooting: prison confirmed for 4

It was a dispute over fireworks, which started on New Year’s Eve, that sparked the brawl with baseball bats and the subsequent shooting last Sunday in Piazza Castello in Afragola, where five people were injured.

The man who fired four gunshots at eye level, wounding two people, is Carmine Cesarano, 34 years old. The Gup of the Court of Naples North, Daniele Grunieri, validated his arrest and ordered his imprisonment.

Together with Cesarano, Agostino Cesarano (29 years old), Ferdinando Sellitto (37 years old) and Agostino Ramaglia (21 years old) are also accused of carrying and possessing the weapon. The judge also ordered precautionary custody in prison for them.

Agostino Cesarano, Ferdinando Sellitto and Agostino Ramaglia are also accused of injuries. For this crime they were placed under house arrest.

The last person arrested, Ciro Pugliese (21 years old), was released from prison after investigations by the State Police established that he was not involved in the brawl.

The story originated at the end of last year, when a member of the Cesarano family was stabbed by some firecrackers and smoke bombs.

On Sunday morning the two groups met to definitively resolve the issue, but the tension resulted in a brawl involving baseball bats and then a shooting. All the suspects were defended by the lawyer Dario Carmine Procentese.
