The secretary of the Rende club then underlined how: “the PD is totally in disarray, lacking guidance and a coherent political programme. There is no perception of his actions on the territory. A serious silence, almost of connivance, around the policies of the centre-right which at a central level seriously threatens the South and which at a local level produces legislative proposals, establishing new structures and mergers of municipalities without any real popular participation. All this while in the opposition area we are witnessing opportunistic positioning and alliances of convenience, which are more reminiscent of the noise of a chicken coop than a serious discussion”.

Artese then gets to the heart of the problem, the silence around the Rende case: “the young person’s PD Nicola Irto it now appears as the party of quarrelsome elites who exacerbate problems by pretending to try to solve them. The city of Rende has been under siege for over a year and, while the centre-right is intent on studying every single move for the definitive conquest, no real political analysis is made by a force that is indignant at the commissionership of the municipality of Bari, but which has nothing to say about what happens in one’s own home.”

“And this a political action of double standardsand, alternating with the theory of presupposed moral superiority which leads to intermittent guaranteeism, ad personam. It must be underlined that the principle of guaranteeism does not make personal distinctions. You should be consistent in applying it always and not only when media investigations or police actions involve your party.”.

The secretary of the Rende city club concludes: “this is the PD, the party of great bluff, the party of inconsistency. It would be good for managers to start looking around and worry more about the significant loss of credibility that they manage to grow around them day after day. All this implies very heavy costs not only for those directly affected, but, more generally, for the democratic system and for the entire community”.

“The future of this party seems increasingly uncertain and distant and, unless it wants to continue losing the only truly free and thinking people within it, it would perhaps be appropriate to quickly change course and try to modify the unfortunate and announced epilogue . Therefore, recognize greater value in women it would be, without a shadow of a doubt, the first big step to purify a retrograde environment from ambivalent and convenient attitudes”.

“A progressive party should, in fact, be an inclusive place, fair and in which gender equality is a founding and shared value. It is necessary to invest in skills and in the valorisation of ideas, leaving aside petty particular interests. Only in this way is it possible to build a strong and credible party, and only in this way will it be possible to look to the future with greater hope and optimism.”
