Human trafficking: institutions and professionals compared in Agrigento

The delicate issue of human trafficking was at the center of a debate meeting that took place this morning at the Pirandello Theater in Agrigento. During the event which saw the authoritative participation of the prosecutor of Agrigento, Giovanni Di Leo, the topics of “identification and protection of victims within the multi-stakeholder system” and the “National Referral Mechanism” were addressed. The meeting, organized by the Prefecture of Agrigento, was moderated by the Director of the immigration office of the Prefecture of Agrigento, Gabriele Barbaro and was sponsored by the Order of Social Workers of the Sicily Region. The event is part of the training path that the Prefect Filippo Romano has started since his inauguration in favor of all the institutional and private social components, in order to encourage moments of discussion and dialogue on topics of relevant and common interest and was enriched by the presence of numerous professionals in the sector. During the debate, the concrete commitment of the institutions and the community in combating this form of crime was highlighted.
