The final balance sheet for the year 2023 of Siena Jazz closes with a profit of €202,572.24, approved by the Members’ Assembly of the Accademia Senese. A desired result, which led to a significant decrease in the academy’s debt position, also thanks to the strategies implemented by the new governance in collaboration with the Municipality of Siena. The management of the previous governance in 2023 was characterized by a phase of extreme cost contraction, which, although apparently motivated by a financial review, led to a stasis in development actions, distorting the historical function of the Music Academy, negatively impacting the registrations and cultural initiatives, and has generated a climate of uncertainty and instability. The new path traced in a few months by the current board of directors has highlighted how it is possible to intervene with concrete recovery strategies through interventions that do not damage the image of the Academy and take into account the very nature of the cultural institution, its historicity and of the value and social impacts that it is able to generate on the territory. Present at the Assembly: delegate of the Mayor of the Municipality of Siena, Enrico Tucci, Councilor for Subsidiaries of the Municipality; Giuseppe Gugliotti, Provincial Councilor with delegation from the President of the Province of Siena; Roberto Bazzani, President of the Jazz Association. The Municipality of Siena and the Province of Siena, founding members of Siena Jazz, confirmed their closeness to the institution and appreciated the new climate of consolidation and the route taken by the new Board of Directors. From both institutions, words of comfort for the future of Siena Jazz, which is recognized as a heritage of excellence for the Sienese territory, dedicated to internationalization as also confirmed by the PNRR contributions recently assigned by the Ministry of the University. New climate of collaboration also with the jazz association which, however, abstains from voting on the budget, given the continuing judicial situation. The president of Siena Jazz, Massimo Mazzini, recalled that “the prerogative of the Board of Directors for the next few years will be to work on laying the foundations for the consolidation of the Academy and the relaunch of its activities, also thanks to the interception of further incoming financial resources , capable of guaranteeing greater stability. The focal point for the start of this transformation process will be the change to the current statute of Siena Jazz and the hoped-for entry of new supporters of the association”.
