25 April, museums open in Sassari and Caprera

On Thursday the anniversary of the Liberation is celebrated by the Sassari and Caprera Museums of the Regional Directorate with free entry. An initiative that also tends to cater to tourists and visitors. To the “GA Sanna” Museum in Sassari (from 9am to 1.45pm) you will be able to visit the Castoldi Pavilion recently reopened to the public and you will be able to admire the new exhibition of the Dessì Collection, which represents one of the most important collections of archaeological materials acquired by the Museum, which span a broad chronological span, from Prehistory to the Contemporary Age.

In the National Picture Gallery of Sassari (from 9am to 7.30pm) a journey dedicated to the stories featuring some artists of the time as protagonists, including Ausonio Tanda, Giuseppe Biasi and Carmelo Floris, imprisoned for being anti-fascist and sentenced to confinement for 5 years on the Tremi Islands. In the Garibaldi’s Compendium of Caprera (from 8.30 to 19.30) it will be possible to discover not only details of Garibaldi’s life, where he lived for 26 years, but also his adventures and his travels across the seas of the world. It will be an opportunity to visit the new exhibition space, inside the Giuseppe Garibaldi’s windmillwhich contains some instruments linked to the Caprera farm.

A few kilometers away, the path that leads to the begins Giuseppe Garibaldi Memorial (open from 1.45pm to 7.15pm) in the Savoy fortress which houses the Museum. Visitors will be able to access four exhibition blocks, integral parts of Arbuticci’s military architecture, in the multimedia rooms, entirely dedicated to the figure of the Hero of the Two Worlds. It will be an opportunity to admire, from the terraces, places and panoramas overlooking the gulf of La Maddalena, made even more evocative by the colors of the sunset that illuminates the coast, with a view of Corsica.
