«A second very fruitful meeting was held on the regulation for dehors and the structure of the regulation, as it was modified in the first meeting, remained the same and we explored much more specific and concrete issues, finding a general synthesis».
Thus the councilor for the quality of urban spaces of the Municipality of Viterbo Emanuele Aronne who, yesterday, met again with the representatives of the trade associations, the technical parties and the professional associations to define what will be the first regulation on the Municipality’s outdoor areas.
Also present was the councilor for economic development Silvio Franco.
Today there are three regulations which the administration refers to to regulate the outdoor spaces of commercial establishments used for the sale of food and drinks: that on decoration, on Tosap and on commerce. With the entry into force of the next municipal regulation on dehors, councilor Emanuele Aronne and the other competent people will finally be able to organize a very complex matter that unites various administrative areas with more simplicity and precision.
«I am very satisfied – continues Aronne – that all the category representatives agreed in approving the overall structure of the dehors regulation proposed in the first meeting. Now we will draw up the final version and begin the approval process which consists of passing it through two council commissions and then to the city council.”
It is a quick job, the one prepared by councilor Aronne, which derives from the boom in the historic center of Viterbo, after the Covid period, of requests for public spaces connected to commercial food and drink administration activities.
«Before these steps however – specifies the councilor for the quality of urban spaces – we will meet with the Superintendence given that everything concerning the historic center is supervised by it. All procedures must first pass through the Superintendence for a prior opinion, I don’t know if they have to approve it but it is essential to contact them.”
With the official regulation there will be precise indications on how to create public outdoor spaces, what characteristics they must have and, as Aronne himself told La Provincia, «the interesting fact is that this regulation was studied and prepared by the offices and by the department to reward all the entities in homogeneous areas that are organized and use the same materials and the same basic project. If there is a unitary project in a square we end up offering discounts on the occupation of public land, rewarding those who make it possible to have a positive impact on the decorum of the space.”
In the drafting of the municipal regulation of Viterbo on the terraces, the division of the historic center into homogeneous and construction zones was made to facilitate the planimetric and functional work and this document will become an integral part of the recovery plan of the historic center and, from it, in the future can be implemented.
