As part of investigations directed and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Juvenile Court of Messina, personnel of the Specialized Judicial Police Section employee – Aliquota Carabinieri, released a minor seriously suspected in relation to the attack suffered by an elderly man on the afternoon of April 7, 2024, in the Nuova Panoramica dello Strait area. The offended person immediately indicated that a boy, probably a minor, was the perpetrator of the gesture made at the height of an argument that arose following some dangerous maneuvers that two mopeds allegedly carried out in an attempt to overtake the car driven by the elderly man. . The investigation activity made it possible to reconstruct the phases of interest through the acquisition and analysis of some video surveillance systems, as well as by the questioning of subjects present at the events. From this activity it emerged that the attack on the elderly man was preceded by a maneuver that he carried out while driving his own car, effectively jeopardizing the safety of the occupants of one of the mopeds. After several hundred metres, the two vehicles stopped their journey and approached the edge of the road, where a heated discussion broke out between the motorist and the occupants of the moped. The confrontation resulted in the attack documented by the images acquired by the investigators, which portray the passenger of the moped hitting the elderly man several times in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, and then fleeing. From the analysis of the video surveillance systems, as well as from the testimonies collected, responsibility emerged exclusively on the part of the attacker, while the other minors involved, all fully identified, had no role in the attack against the offended person.
