Celebration of Freedom with the Municipal Band – Valledaostaglocal.it

April 25th is a day that resonates with significance for all of Italy, a day of remembrance and celebration for the liberation from Nazi-fascism during the Second World War. In Aosta, this day will be celebrated with a special concert by the city Municipal Band, directed by Maestro Daniele Papalia, at the porticoes of the town hall in Piazza Emile Chanoux.

At 4.30 pm, the concert will start with a now traditional piece: the transcription of the popular song “Bella Ciao”. This hymn to the resistance will be followed by “Lola Flores”, one of the best known pasodobles in the band world, written by the Argentine composer T. Tucci. The lively dance style of the pasodoble will transport us into the atmosphere of anticipation and pageantry, evoking the entrance of the matadors into the arena.

The concert will continue with the soundtrack of the film “Schindler’s List” by J. Williams, in the band arrangement by N. Tailor. This will be followed by an arrangement of the song “Copacabana” by B. Manilow, which will immerse us in the atmosphere of the famous New York nightclub.

Sinfonia Nobilissima and Overture of “The Prince of Egypt”

The work “Sinfonia Nobilissima” by R. Jager, American composer and conductor, will present the public with a journey through three sections: a short introduction, a fast and dramatic section, and a slow and emotional central section, concluding with a fast and syncopated style.

Coldplay in Symphony and Beyond the Stars

B. Appermont’s “Coldplay in Symphony” medley will give us a collage of the most famous songs of the famous British group, including “A Sky Full of Stars”, “Clocks”, “The Scientist” and “Viva La Vida”. This will be followed by “Kepler 452b” by Italian composer A. Rossi, inspired by the 2015 discovery of an Earth-like planet 1,400 light years away.

Liverpool Sound Collection and Il Canto degli Italiani

The concert will conclude with “Liverpool Sound Collection”, a medley of some well-known songs, including “The House of the Rising Sun”, “A World Without Love” and “Don’t Let Me be Misunderstood” by Japanese composer T. Sahashi. Finally, on the occasion of the lowering of the flag at 5.30pm, the performance of “Il Canto degli italiani” cannot be missed in the transcription from the original manuscript by the Valle d’Aosta Maestro Fulvio Creux.

This concert is not just a moment of entertainment, but an opportunity to reflect on the importance of April 25th and the values of freedom, resistance and solidarity that it represents. It is an opportunity to honor those who fought for our freedom and to look to the future with hope and determination.

The Municipal Band concert in Aosta on April 25th is not just a musical event, but a tribute to history and freedom. It combines tradition and musical innovation, offering the public a journey through emotions, memories and hopes. An opportunity to celebrate the freedom achieved and to renew the commitment to preserving it for future generations.
