After 34 years, a historic bar in Udine lowers its shutters

The historic Ai Bagni bar in Udine closes.

The historic bar and newsstand “Ai Bagni” in Piazzale XXVI Luglio in Udine it will close its doors at the end of the month after 34 years of activity. The owner, Armando Zimbardo, takes a well-deserved pension while the spaces will probably be used for the expansion of the iN’S supermarket. However, the newspaper resale will not be lost: the license will be acquired by bar Moretti in viale Venezia 3, ensuring continuity of service.

Before this management, the place it was known as the Audi bar as there was a car dealership nearby. But the place represents a piece of the city’s history: the environment, in fact, had been occupied by a sort of spa and health center and subsequently, from the Second World War to the 1960s) by a maternity clinic.

In the last few years, Armando and his daughter Alessandra they managed the place with the support of three employees, receiving the affection and loyalty of the customers. The closure of the bar sparked sadness among customers: to say goodbye to them, it was organized a party scheduled for Saturday from 5.30pm. The passage of license to resell newspapers at the nearby bar it will however ensure continuity of service for residents and workers in the area.
