Italy is in the midst of winter cyclonic vortex continuously fed by cold arctic currents: temperatures have dropped several degrees below average, in the North snow is falling at very low altitude and it seems like we have gone back at least a couple of months. Cold and bad weather will gradually move towards the Centre-South but it will only be from the weekend that we will see a phase weather forecast different thanks to the arrival of a high pressure area.
The trend for the next few hours
What has been happening for days now is explained by Antonio Sanò, director of -. “In the middle of spring, winter has returned!”. As satellite images show, the North is shrouded in clouds and rainfall which have now persisted for more than 24 hours: the vortex will gradually move towards the Center with abundant phenomena, snowfall at low altitude on the Apennines around a thousand meters and decidedly unseasonal cold. Wednesday 24thcold air it will gain further ground towards the South and Sicily, the weather is still unstable especially in the Triveneto and central regions.
The weather for April 25th
On Thursday 25 April, millions of Italians will travel to the classic trip out of town, the atmospheric conditions will still be very unstable especially in the central-southern regions, better weather in the North where the skies will be little cloudy and a timid recovery in temperatures will begin. The same is also valid for the following day, Friday 26th, when the Northern regions will be hit by new clouds, rain, thunderstorms and snow still at low altitudes. At least until Friday, maximum and minimum temperatures will remain below the averages for the period.
The turning point of the weekend
“Right around the weekend, we will witness a real twist: the return ofhigh pressure – explain the experts –The weekend should therefore be much sunnier and characterized by a significant increase in temperatures, especially in the central-southern regions, where it would become very hot again”. Here is that twist we are talking about: from the winter cold a sudden temperature increase with maximum values that will even reach peaks of 25°C as in the case of Florence and Naples, 23-24°C also in Bologna and Bari.
Given the distance from the events, meteorologists preach caution in waiting for the response to the new updates even if it seems certain that this will be the last noteworthy outbreak of cold air before the start of the second part, the milder and warmer one, of the spring.
