“Servants of the State”: Rotary Naples East celebrates the commitment and sacrifice of magistrates“An enlightening dialogue on the role of the Judiciary in the all-out war against organized crime, but above all a conversation that focuses on the figure of the magistrate as a hero modern, often ready to sacrifice to pursue that objective of Justice that the State in its most noble sense must guarantee”. This is how “Servants of the State” is presented, the event organized by the Rotary Club of Naples East in interclub with the namesake club of North Naples which will be held this evening at the Hotel Vesuvio in Naples starting from 8pm. The event is sponsored by Antonino Caponnetto Foundationan organization that continues to promote the values of civil commitment and the fight against organized crime.

At the center of the meeting there will be the testimonies of two magistrates emblematic of the fight against mafias and organized crime: Catello Maresca And Cesare Sirignano. “Maresca, known for his decisive role in the fight against the Casalesi clan and in the capture of the last clan leader Michele Zagaria, is an example of courage and integrity. His fight against the Camorra and his intellectual contribution to understanding the links between organized crime and the social fabric make him a leading figure in the Italian judicial panorama. Sirignano is considered one of the pillars of the DDA of Naples and is to be considered one of the protagonists of the fight against the Camorra in Campania, contributing decisively to breaking up the Casalesi clan, putting an end to long periods of hiding such as that of Antonio Iovineof which he then managed the collaboration with justice, and of Giuseppe Setola and his command, interrupting the blood trail of the massacre campaign carried out in 2008. He stands out for his dedication to justice and his commitment to spreading the values of legality, representing a beacon of hope and a model to follow”, says Angelo Coviello, promoter of the initiative. “The recent repentance of a historical figure of the Camorra like Francesco ‘Sandokan’ Schiavone – adds Coviello – marks a fundamental turning point in the fight against organized crime on the one hand, but on the other it reaffirms the fundamental role of the judiciary in our justice system. Through ‘Servants of the State’, we want to pay homage and give voice to those who, like magistrates Maresca and Sirignano, represent the advanced front of this battle, testifying to their commitment in favor of a more just and equitable society, often putting themselves at risk “.
