On a cold Sunday in April, where winter temperatures are almost touching, after the incessant rain of the previous day, the runners of theASD Runforever Aprilia they find themselves facing two difficult and treacherous routes when not perfectly dry.

The first challenge to face was theAppia Run which took place in Rome over a distance of 13 km, mostly on an irregular surface of cobblestones and paving stones still slippery from the rain, up to the dirt surface of the Caffarella Park. There were 3,663 participants in this splendid race which took place while admiring the ruins and history of ancient Rome.

Representing the colors of the Aprilian club is one of the strongest veterans, Claudio Cordella who with a real time time of 1h05’21” earned 927th place overall.

In the nearest Borgo Hermada, the 50th edition of the event took place on the same day Pedagnalonga, very famous race over a distance of 21.1 km in addition to the most famous non-competitive walk with tastings, of 15 km which involved numerous families discovering the history and gastronomic traditions of the Pontine reclamation and of the NPOs distributed throughout the territory.

The ASD Runforever Aprilia wanted to be there and took part with 7 very strong male and female athletes, almost all of whom made the podium, placing among the top 5 in the overall ranking or among the top 7 in their category, out of 454 who reached the finish line.

The prize goes to the very fast Riccardo Volpe, 4th overall followed by Emanuele Battaglia 16th and 4th in his category; Gianluigi Bianchini came 26th and 7th in the category, Pamela Gabrielli 68th and 2nd overall woman, Chiara Nepoti 169th, 2nd in her category who beat her record on this distance despite the arduous route, Sonia Andolfo 231st and 4th in category.

The indestructible Simona Giordani came 371st, demonstrating her continuous, progressive improvement.

A large group from Runforever Aprilia also took part in the non-competitive walk, made up of 52 women and men aged from 20 to 70 who, as Giancarlo Mattioli says: “not everyone knew each other but a few minutes was enough to seem like old friends and the t-shirt worn , offered by our sponsor Mauro Pellegrini, independent Herbalife distributor, brought us together for the entire journey. Walk under the hot sun…. even though it was cool in the shade. The group stretched out along the entire route and then met again at the finish line for the final farewells. The organization was almost perfect.”

This is one of the events to take part in every year because it represents the culture and history of the area. Running, running, ASD Runforever Aprilia to represent and make our city known.
