On the 79th anniversary of the Liberation, Ravenna is preparing to celebrate the anniversary of April 25th with a series of initiatives, moments of reflection and historical analysis, which will affect the entire municipal territory, from the center to the seaside villages passing through those of the Forese area.
The Pedalata della Liberazione will take place on Thursday 25 April – from Ravenna to the Pineta di Classe, along an itinerary that testifies to the actions that, in 1944, contributed to the liberation of Ravenna. The meeting is scheduled for 10am at the garden 9 November 1989 in via Kepler, while the departure will be at 10.30am. The cost of registration is 2 euros (which will be donated to the city anti-drug committee). Along the itinerary, the laying of wreaths will take place in the Reginald Barton Stratton park in Classe in homage to the English soldier who fell during the liberation of Classe and, inside the pine forest, at the memorial stone in memory of Vito Salvigni and Umberto Fussi, young partisans of “Garavini” detachment fallen in the liberation struggle. Upon arrival, at Ca’ Acquara (Pineta di Classe) the participants will be welcomed by refreshments offered by ATCRa2 and the hunting associations. At 11am, in Piazza del Popolo, wreaths will be laid on the tombstone of the partisans who fell during the liberation from Nazi-fascism; interventions by the authorities and the provincial ANPI and a performance by the city band are expected.
At 2.30 pm, as part of the City of Ravenna Cycling Grand Prix on 25 April, the initiatives promoted by the Anpi “Natalina Vacchi” section of Ravenna will take place and in the green sports area of the Parish of San Paolo, in via Sighinolfi, 20, it will be held Play with your bicycle: cross-country race and gymkhana; for pre-registrations the WhatsApp number 348.2345147 is available by April 23rd; at 3.30 pm, in Piazzale Sighinolfi, First Sprint Race reserved for the very young categories members of the Italian Cycling Federation.
Saturday 27 April, at 5.30pm, in the San Romualdo Auditorium, Shrine of the Fallen, in via Baccarini 7, the Fanfare Concert of the National Bersaglieri Association – Cap. G.
