The “Report” broadcast brought into the homes of over one million eight hundred thousand people throughout Italy the destruction of the Apuan Alps, the enormous wealth of the marble capitalists created on the common goods belonging to the local community, the embarrassments of political and Confindustria representatives faced to reality. Franchi’s words are only the culmination of a violent attack on the dignity of workers, on the dignity of a territory that is used for the greed of profit. For years, environmental abuses have been reported, the millionaire extra profits of quarry concessionaires, the cultural imposition of a fake philanthropy instrumental to the greenwashing of those who act against the territory and the environment, yet in the face of all this even the political forces have not been able to oppose actions that counteract this decline, indeed have often supported and supported the activities of extractive capitalism, harmful in every part of the world, including in Carrara.
For this reason, as “Pace Terra Dignità” Massa, we support the strike on Wednesday 24 April, called by CGIL, CISL and UIL, in the belief that with this demonstration we can finally change the patterns that until now have conditioned the political and economic life of the city, a change that can only happen through the awareness of workers and through the simultaneous awareness of the importance of the fight for the environment and the climate.
