Brescia signs the pact “for a breathing Po Valley”

The mayor of Brescia Laura Castelletti and the councilor for the environment Camilla Bianchi, on the occasion of Earth Day, were in Milan for the meeting “Cities are changing air. The Mayors’ Pact for a breathing Po Valley”, promoted by the First Citizens of Milan, Bologna, Turin, Venice and Treviso.

“Breathing clean air is a fundamental right of everyone and all of us, as Mayors and Mayoress, local administrators, are called to do our part starting from our territories, committing ourselves to promoting measures that are increasingly attentive to the environment” reads the document also signed by Castelletti.

However, the need to not limit the problem to the individual borders of the various Municipalities, but to broaden the overall view of the entire Po Valley is once again underlined.

The commitments include, for example, the replacement of municipal oil boilers, the planting of new trees, investments in public transport and the promotion of sustainable means of transport. To do this, the signatory Mayors ask for the support of the institutions: not only the local administrations, but also the Regions, the Government and the European Union.
