Press conference yesterday afternoon at the “Giovanni Bovio” municipal library for the presentation of the project “We in the library with you”, thanks to the third edition of the “Libraries and Communities” call, promoted and financed by the “Fondazione per il Sud” and “Centro for the Book and Reading”. The project, which lasts two years, sees the participation of several local associations and bodies: the leader and manager is the association. The Smile Train, together with Auser Trani, Il Colore degli Anni and the “Giovanni Bovio” municipal library. The various souls involved in the third sector have set themselves the objective of creating a network between associations, bodies and organizations with the hope of generating spaces and services to support the territory through social infrastructure with the active involvement of libraries, schools, bookstores , other associations and parishes. The objectives of the “We in the library with you” project are multiple and time-based: a project already partly implemented and partly still in progress over the next two years up to April 2026. Among the many objectives, generating an educational and promote the Pacts for Reading manifesto; promote reading through innovative methodologies; create widespread measures to promote culture and creativity, trying to reach all generations, from the youngest to the oldest. The key objective is certainly to decentralize culture, to bring reading to the suburbs too. Among the spaces that will be involved, an “Open Space Library” with book presentations, dance courses, theater and animated reading, exhibitions inspired by readings and books; the Casa del Fare Insieme and the Bat Talent Space at the space co-managed with DSM District of Trani will see the creation of a reading centre, an equipped study point, a biblio café and film screenings; a “Hammock, friend of reading”, an alternative and innovative space for reading at the multipurpose center Villa Guastamacchia. Among the events, the “Storyteller” with animated readings, recycling workshops, construction and creation of books to be donated to social and social welfare organizations in the area; “The Library arrives in the city” with periodic reading promotion events.
