WEDNESDAY 24 APRIL SALENTO “BECOMES ACTIVATED” IN OSTUNI
SPORT.IN.CO. ACSI PROJECT – SPORT AND HEALTH
AGAINST SEDENTARIETY AND TO PROMOTE CORRECT LIFESTYLES
The SPORT.IN.CO. inter-provincial gathering will be held in Ostuni on Wednesday 24 April 2024, a project to promote basic sports practice through healthy lifestyles. A project conceived by the national ACSI, financed by Sport and Health and promoted in the area by the ACSI provincial committees of Brindisi and Lecce.
SPORT.IN.CO. is an innovative sporting and social project that aims to form a National Group “for health and sustainable mobility”. The idea is to verify how much a series of physical activities and screening can help the health of different age groups, genders and social origins. After the pilot phase it could become an “Activity Model” to be promoted on a national scale to those who are particularly sedentary.
In recent months, various ASDs and social organizations in the provinces of Lecce and Brindisi have carried out the many different activities envisaged by the Project with the aim of increasing the time dedicated to physical activity, increasing interest in sports practice, decreasing gender gap in sporting activities, increasing physical well-being for the Over 65s to the point of contributing to system objectives such as the reduction of healthcare spending, the full involvement of those living in disadvantaged contexts to the point of encouraging travel without using a car. All this by offering activities such as trekking, walking and cycling in close collaboration with local associations.
In the city of Ostuni, gateway to Salento and an excellent tourist destination in Puglia, Arianna Petrocchi’s ASD Aryfitness promoted the activities of SPORT.IN.CO. and for this reason on Wednesday 24th the White City will host the gathering of all the participants in this project from the provinces of Lecce and Brindisi.
The day – sponsored by the Municipality of Ostuni and part of the program of April Ostuni Sports Week 2024 initiatives – will start at 10.30 in Piazza Libertà with motor sports activities of different kinds and types: movement with music, cultural walks with a guide, socialisation, walk in the city. Afterwards, the participants will reach the Santa Maria di Agnano Park where they will have an outdoor lunch break. In the afternoon, from 2.00 pm, new recreational and motor activities in the same Park. At the end there is space for a guided tour among the remains of ancient civilizations of Puglia housed in the same Archaeological Park. End of the day at 4.00pm.
ACSI has sustainable mobility at heart: for those who will participate in the Ostuni event but cannot or choose not to use their own transport, a shuttle service has been set up from some municipalities between the provinces of Lecce and Brindisi. From Salice Salentino (Largo Stazione, 8.00 am), Campi Salentina (Largo Ospedale, 8.15 am), San Donaci (Largo Palazzetto dello Sport, 8.30 am) arriving in Ostuni at 9.30 am.
