MARSALA. The Forestry Carabinieri of the Natura Anti-Crime Center of Palermo – Detachment of Trapani, as part of the territorial control services aimed at prevention and repression of environmental crimes, two 60-year-old men have been reported for having created and managed an illegal landfill of special dangerous waste in a place they owned.

In the land, located in the Paolini district of Marsala, of approximately 2,000 meters square, over 20 out-of-use vehicles were found in a clear state of repair abandonment, five truck cabins and as many containers, a fiberglass boat with related transport trolley, 60 end-of-life tyres, a concrete mixer, a few cubic meters of slabs, probably asbestos, various WEEE equipment, tarpaulins, water containers plastic and a large quantity of engine and body parts.

Further investigations are underway on the waste found aimed at verifying ownership of the vehicles and any responsibilities connected to the failure to scrap them at the appropriate authorized centers.
