In 2016, the Local Health Authority and the Municipality of Latina launched an information campaign to inform citizens about the UCP, Primary Care Units. The UCPs are forms of association promoted by the Lazio Region in agreement with General Practitioners to provide primary care to citizens.

Opening hours are continuous, from 10.00 to 19.00, five days a week, from Monday to Friday.

During this time the associated doctors alternate, so that the patient always finds a doctor available.

The UCPs aim to pursue the following objectives:
* reduce access to emergency services
* promote equal access to local health services
* improve the local health response
* promote the clinical governance of care, as a continuous effort to improve services.
The services offered are:
-General medical examination
– Prescription drugs
-Issuing certificates
-Organize health responses
– Participate in the continuity of care network in the area to ensure effective care of the user starting from chronic patients.

This is in theory. In practice, citizens almost do not know the existence of UCPs and their real functions. They don’t know any addresses or telephone numbers.

Someone heard about it for the first time, only in February last year, when 32 medical practices belonging to the UCP, in the province of Latina, came under the attention of the Nas.

Of these, 3 were found to be non-compliant due to hygienic-sanitary and structural deficiencies, due to lack of information regarding office hours and doctors adhering to the UCP
Reason why the report was forwarded to the competent Regional Offices/ASL of Latina.
Nothing more was heard of those ‘attentions’. However, we provide you with a link to find the addresses of the doctors associated with these structures.

By entering the doctor’s surname you can find out:
-The address and opening hours of the doctor’s office
-If your doctor is part of the Primary Care Unit association.
-The names of doctors associated with the UCP.

At the following link you can find the UCPs and check if your doctor is part of the association of Primary Care Units.

For the record, we would like to point out that to date the queues in the emergency room have not decreased. Report any disruptions to us and we will promptly inform the relevant ASL.
