Surprise defeat for Cascione’s Pescara. Ancona wins 2-0 at Adriatico and is back in the race for salvation. Seventh place is now at risk for the Dolphin.
Last week’s victory against Olbia allowed Pescara to secure a place in the play-offs, but now the path to the promotion play-offs risks becoming much more complicated. Cascione’s team, in fact, leaves the home match against Ancona defeated 2-0 putting seventh place in the standings at great risk.
For the Marche region, however, a golden victory in terms of salvation. The Boscaglia team is still in sixteenth place, but now the ten points over Fermana allow them not to compete in the play-outs. However, the last day will be needed to understand whether the red and whites will always be in Serie C next year or whether their stay will have to be earned in the play-offs.
The match report
At Pescara the surprises are Merola from 1′ and Vergani preferred to Cuppone. A double choice that at least initially seems to pay off. Cascione’s team starts with their foot on the accelerator straight away, but is unable to break the deadlock in the match. As the minutes passed, however, the hosts left the field to the guests, who found the advantage in the 33rd minute: Cioffi finds Spagnoli, who does well in sliding to beat Plizzari. The Dauphin is unable to react and we go to half-time with the Dorians in the lead.
Boscaglia’s men return to the field on the right foot and immediately find the I always double with Spagnoli. This time the assist comes from Saco. A one-two that completely knocks out the home team. Pescara, in fact, tried to react to reopen the match, but Perucchini risks practically nothing at least until the 80th minute when he pays attention to Cangiano. At the final whistle it is the Dorians who rejoice while Pescara must now make no mistakes so as not to make their path to the play-offs even more complicated.
