One hundred years of ‘history’ and still in business: with these motivations, in the Conference room, Paolo Govoni, vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce of Ferrara and Ravenna, awarded two Ferrara companies in a touching ceremony – formalizing their registration in the National Register of Historic Companies of Italy established by Unioncamere ( Passini Umberto and Casa di cura Quisisana Srl), which join the 16 companies in our province already in possession of the prestigious recognition.

“Without these companies – underlined Govoni – we would risk living in an eternal present without roots in the past and without clear aspirations for the future. Ferrara and its territory boast a record in Italian history: it is along the banks of the Po river that the first industries in our country arose. Here ingenious women and men have been able to exploit water power to generate, since the beginning of the nineteenth century, those agricultural, artisan, industrial and service businesses that have given rise to the socio-economic development of an important segment of our territory. Over the last two centuries, thousands of other entrepreneurs have been able to follow their example, aided by a qualified workforce with a very high professional profile”.

“This historical heritage – concluded the vice president of the Chamber of Commerce – represents a wealth of incalculable value, also expressed by those long-lived companies that have been able to adapt to the changing needs of the times and are still present on the market. A wealth that must be brought to the attention of the widest possible audience, taking advantage of a tool such as the Registry which is increasingly attracting people’s attention”.

The awarded companies. “Passini Umberto”based in the Municipality of Terre del Reno, began operations in 1812, a company first registered as a “pizzicagnolo” and then active in the food and industrial field of cake mixes. In 1925 the company led by Saverio Passini specialized more and more in its own laboratory production for the production of yeasts for desserts-puddings and ovol (egg substitute) for creams.

Upon Saverio’s death in 1955, this production was continued in Ferrara by the third generation, represented by Giuseppe Passini, son of Saverio, who continued the production of the “Estense Pudding” with chocolate with raisins and the preparation for “Ovol” Cream. The long tradition continued in the seventies with Benito Passini who represented the fourth generation who was succeeded by Umberto Passini, thus certifying the passage to the fifth generation of the family which for over a hundred years has associated the Passini brand with the preparation of home-made desserts.

There “Quisisana Srl nursing home”based in Ferrara, began operations in 1920, the date on which the prof. Adolfo Magrini, Dr. Marco Magrini, the knight. Tito Ferranti and others set up a company called “Casa di cura di Ferrara”. The structure, located only on one floor, provided exclusively general surgery activities. In 1947 a major building expansion took place with the addition of two floors; since 1960 the departments and services, spread over three floors, have been equipped with modern equipment which, thanks to constant updating, have maintained a high level of technical-scientific efficiency.

In 2017, Quisisana completed an important and complex renovation which led to the creation of a health clinic and a large physiotherapy gym, allowing the health authorization to be integrated with the “rehabilitation” discipline.

The “Quisisana” nursing home follows the code of medical ethics approved by the National Council of Medical Associations and bases all healthcare and therapeutic aspects on principles validated both nationally and internationally.
