After almost a year, the staff of the Cremona railway police returned to occupy the offices inside the railway station. At the end of May last yearor the Polfer team, made up of eight agents, had been forced to move temporarily at the Marconi barracks in via Massarotti, headquarters of the Stradale, due to health and hygiene problems due to the presence of guano and pigeon ticks, one of the most feared parasites for human health. The networks that RFI, owner of the premises, had placed as part of the interventions on the station, had openings that made them ineffective, so much so that the pigeons continued to flock undisturbed, exacerbating the guano problem.
A situation that had been several times reported to the Milan Railway Police Department and to the Italian Railway Network itselfwhich last May had to remedy the serious problem following themunicipal ordinance (the mayor is responsible for public safety also regarding health and hygiene issues) who had forced the owner of the premises to intervene. The station offices were therefore closed to allow disinfestation and sanitization operations.
After a year they were there clear improvements, but the work is not yet completed. If the intervention on the whole first trackwhere new networks have been positioned, has been effective, so much so that the area is much cleaner, this is not yet the case for the third and fourth tracks, where the networks, which had already been placed, have not yet been completed. And in the meantime i pigeons have returned to settle everywhere and nest, once again creating dirt and inconvenience to travelers who on various occasions showed up at the offices to express disappointment.
At the time, it was also reported to the Italian Railway Network state of the Polfer premises, ruined by humidity and dilapidated, also lacking changing rooms and adequate spaces to accommodate the eight service agents (the staffing plan provides for the presence of a maximum of 14 agents) who only have the availability of just over two rooms. Even the location of the premises, as many travelers have often reported, is not among the happiest. The Polfer office, in the opinion of users, should be made more visible than its current locationconsidered too hidden and far from the station entrance.
