We receive and publish a note from Confesercenti, dated 19 April 2024, regarding the visit of the G7 leaders to the province of Brindisi. The occasion will be that of the great summit scheduled in Borgo Egnazia from June 13th to 15th. The inaugural dinner of the event, with the presence of President Mattarella, will take place in the Castello Svevo of the Adriatic capital.

The spotlight is on our regional territory and, in particular, on the Brindisi area because preparations have begun for the organization of the next G7, which will be held in mid-June in Puglia, with the presence of the Heads of State and Government of the Most industrialized countries. The choice fell on the central part between the two airports of Brindisi and Bari, and inevitably we will all be protagonists, bringing the “Great People of the Earth” to the south of Italy. The anticipation that pervades our region is palpable. It is an unprecedented occasion in the history of Puglia, a moment of great political, economic and cultural importance. The choice of our region as the headquarters of the G7 is a testimony to our strategic position, at the crossroads between West and East, a natural bridge that connects cultures, traditions and ideas.

This event not only puts us in the global spotlight, but also gives us the opportunity to consolidate our role in the international tourism circuit. The economic impact of this event will be significant and long-lasting, helping to promote the sustainable development and growth of our region. The Itria Valley, with its breathtaking beauty and rich cultural heritage, is ready to welcome our guests with warmth and hospitality. It is essential that the event takes place in a safe and well-organised environment, capable of welcoming and managing thousands of people from all over the world. Brindisi, then, will be the setting for the first convivial meeting between the “Great People of the Universe”. We are ready to show the world our ability to host events of immense scale and play an active role in building a better future for all.

“The next G7 in Puglia – declares Enzo Di Roma, president of Asshotel Confesercenti of the province of Brindisi – therefore truly represents an extraordinary opportunity for our region to affirm its role in the international context and to contribute to the global debate on crucial issues for our future. I am confident that we will be able to offer an unforgettable welcome to our distinguished guests and leave a positive impact that will last over time. The G7 could represent an opportunity to promote a broad recovery in the tourism sector. During the summit, leaders could commit to working together to facilitate the safe and responsible return of international travel, through the standardization of health protocols and the facilitation of tourist flows. Furthermore, the G7 could be the ideal stage to announce investments and initiatives to support the recovery of tourism, including funding to upgrade tourism infrastructure, promote lesser-known destinations, and support for small tourism businesses. International cooperation promoted by the G7 could also help create a more favorable environment for sustainable and responsible tourism, encouraging environmental and cultural conservation of tourist destinations. Furthermore, the event could act as a catalyst for promoting more inclusive and accessible travel, working to break down economic, social and physical barriers that may limit access to tourism for some groups of people. Therefore, thinking with an optimistic point of view, the G7 could represent a moment of collaboration and joint action to promote a sustainable and inclusive recovery in the tourism sector, helping to restore traveler confidence and generate economic and social benefits at a global level”.
