Doctors and nurses in the Foggia emergency room equipped with a device to call the police

Just one button to ask help. Doctors and nurses on duty in the emergency room of the hospital in Foggia and at risk attacks they will be equipped with a portable device capable of forwarding emergency calls with intervention priority directly to the 113 operations room which from 1 May will become 112 Nue (single emergency number).

The agreement

It is one of the initiatives that fall within theagreement between the commissioner Ferdinando Rossi and the general director of the polyclinic, Giuseppe Pasqualone, which led to the purchase and delivery of the alarm devices to the doctors and nurses. «We have adopted a new and further emergency initiative – says Police Commissioner Rossi – which is in addition to the dedicated landline telephone line between the operations room of the Foggia police headquarters and the station of the special security guards present in the emergency rooms».

«In a possible difficult situation – adds General Manager Pasqualone – you can press the button on the alarm device and a hands-free call will start. Direct contact will therefore be established between the State Police operator and healthcare personnel, to allow timely intervention by the police.” At a national level, all police services in hospitals have been strengthened, following the numerous attacks and threats against doctors, nurses and healthcare workers, especially in emergency rooms.
