After months of waiting and concern on the part of the citizens of Salerno and the Agro Nocerino Sarnese, there finally seems to be a turning point in the delicate issue of the collapsed ridge in via Benedetto Croce in Vietri Sul Mare. Since January 2024 the landslide had caused the suspension of the railway network Nocera – Salerno Via Cava and now, months later, we seem to have reached the phase of gradual restoration.

The municipal administration has taken a decisive position to address the problem, instructing the Italian railway company to proceed with the restoration of the places, then only subsequently compensating the owners of the property.

The intervention of the Municipality of Salerno was welcomed with relief by commuters, who had long expressed dissatisfaction with the replacement services of the railway line.

The numerous protests and the commitment of the committees at the institutions have finally achieved tangible results, with coordination between the Municipality of Salerno and the Italian Railway Network to address the issue.

The adoption of a strategy that involves the owners of the property concerned is a sign of responsibility on the part of the local authorities, which demonstrate their desire to address the issue in a transparent manner and with a collaborative approach.

However, despite the progress made, much remains to be done. It is necessary to define all the details relating to spending commitments and ensure that the safety works are carried out in the shortest possible time. The indicative timetable of around 100 days to complete the works represents a challenge, especially considering the upcoming closure of the closure of the Torre Annunziata – Nocera Inferiore line scheduled for early July.

Further updates on the situation and timing of the works are awaited, in the hope that the solution can be found before the critical deadline.

The decision of the Municipality of Salerno represents an important step to resolve a problem that has weighed on the entire commuter community of the Agro Nocerino Sarnese, demonstrating a concrete commitment in tackling the challenges affecting the territory.
