THEThe national secretary of Uila, Gabriele De Gasperis, together with the general secretaries of Uila and Filbi Sicilia, Nino Marino and Enzo Savarino, raised the important issue of agricultural management in Sicily, particularly urgent given the investigation involving the former councilor Luca Sammartino. This event must not become a pretext for legislative inertia, especially when it comes to crucial reforms such as that concerning Forestry.

The appeal addressed to President Renato Schifani is clear: the regional government must provide a timetable for the approval of the forestry reform. Meanwhile, the unions reiterate the main points of the proposal, including an increase in working days and skills available to foresters, as well as the creation of a regional public agency for forestry activities.

Added to this appeal or cry of alarm is the voice of those who live in the sector, such as Antonio David, a forestry worker from the province of Palermo. – “When it comes to forestry there is always something new and strange, as if everything were organized ad hoc.

With the alleged accusations against Dr. Sammartino, Councilor of the branch, we will certainly have repercussions on the reform that should be put into practice. It seems that this motivation can still postpone and postpone what we are all waiting for to biblical times.

It is easy to think about what is happening, let’s say bad luck to say the least…. and this brings even more disappointment to a sector that thrives on general discontent at a time when the current work situations with fires already active should underline the urgency and the objective reliability of remedying the problem as soon as possible”.

They urge the Regional Executive to act promptly, looking to the present and future rather than waiting passively. In particular, the importance of the forestry reform is highlighted, already announced months ago but still awaiting approval. Uila has already contributed with ideas and proposals, but now it is essential that the regional government establishes times and deadlines to bring the reform to the approval of the Ars.
