The State Police remembers Selected Agent Loris Giazzon
Victim of duty
Friday 20 April 1993, the assistant of the State Police Loris GIAZZON lost his life in the attempt, together with his patrol composed of the Assistant Giuseppe GIUDICE and the Assistant Maurizio CESAROTTO, to foil the robbery in progress at a branch of the then Bank Popular Vicenza of Creazzo.
The criminals, belonging to the Brenta gang, engaged in a firefight armed with machine guns, fatally shooting Assistant Chief Loris GIAZZON and wounding Assistant Maruzio CESAROTTO in the back, causing paralysis due to a very serious spinal injury.
The ceremony took place this morning at the commemorative stone in Creazzo, in Viale Italia, the site of the tragic event.
The Police Commissioner of Vicenza, Dr. Dario SALLUSTIO, placed a floral tribute at the commemorative plaque, donated by the Chief of Police – Director General of Public Security.
Present at the ceremony, in addition to Loris Giazzon’s family, were the Prefect of Vicenza Dr. Salvatore Caccamo, the Deputy Mayor of Creazzo Giuseppe SERRAINO, the local National Association of State Police and the leaders of the other law enforcement agencies and fighting associations.
The commemoration concluded with the expression of some thoughts of gratitude to the Forces of the Order by the students of the “Alessandro Manzoni” secondary school of Creazzo, also paying homage to the Assistant Loris GIAZZON by performing a piece of music with the wind instruments.
