Double appointment with the CUG of the University of Siena on Monday 22 April

At 5pm the meeting on “Women, war, Resistance” and at 9pm the screening of the film “The people of women”

SIENA. Double appointment on Monday 22 April with the CUG of the University of Siena, which is organizing a encounter on the topic “Women, war, Resistance” and the screening of the film “The people of women”, presented at the last Venice Film Festival.

It starts at 5pmin the Historical Great Hall of the Rectorate, with the meeting “Women, war, Resistance”, dedicated to women in the two-year period 1943-1945. Promoted on the occasion of the celebrations of April 25th and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Siena from Nazi-fascism, the meeting sees as protagonists Patrizia Gabrielli, Natalia Cangi and Giulia Cioci, scholars of history and literature, belonging to two different generations, who they are asked to choose a book for April 25th and to offer an interpretative reading of it. The debate is opened by greetings from the rector Roberto Di Pietra and coordinated by Silvia Folchi, president of the provincial Anpi of Siena.

At 9pmis held in the Great Hall of the Rectorate the screening of the film “The people of women”, characterized by the lectio magistralis held by the psychotherapist and psychoanalyst Marina Valcarenghi in the Legnaia cloister of the University of Milan. Journalist, psychoanalyst and activist, Valcarenghi is the founder of the VIOLA association, the first clinical psychoanalysis center in Italy specifically created for the therapy of violent behavior. In the film you offer a dissertation on the causes of violence against women and the possibilities of combating it.

The film, which was presented in 2023 at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, is introduced, in connection, by director Yuri Ancarani.

The initiative is open to the entire university community and, thanks to the collaboration of the Provincial Administration of Siena, to the citizens.
