The mayoral candidate in Pescara Domenico Pettinari returns to denounce the situation of social degradation in the Rancitelli neighborhood of Pescara, talking about drug dealing and prostitution a stone’s throw from the school.
Safe streets, cameras in every corner and a social assistance system, the proposals included in his program to deal with a real emergency:
“Ensure greater safety not only for residents, but also and above all for students, who are increasingly at risk due to a situation that has become unsustainable and unacceptable”.
The candidate for Mayor of the Civic Coalition Domenico Pettinari, former Vice President of the Regional Council, returns to press on the security emergency in the Rancitelli district of Pescara, who on Saturday 20 April met citizens and supporters in front of the Matnhonè Institute, one of the places where every Every day we sadly witness the constant coming and going of drug addicts, drug dealers, prostitutes and criminals.
“Safety and legality – denounces the candidate – unfortunately remain one of the sore points of this neighborhood, despite our numerous complaints which were also followed by facts”.
The reference is to the “Walks of legality” which took hold between the end of the year and the beginning of the new one, involving sympathizers of the “Civic Coalition Pettinari Sindaco”, exasperated citizens and residents who had raised a cry of alarm to the institutions, faced with situations of degradation and danger are now rampant.
“It is unacceptable to tolerate the presence of drug dealers and drug addicts located in every corner of the neighborhood – underlines Pettinari – especially outside schools, where the phenomenon takes on the dimensions of a real social problem”.
And yes, because the great fear of the parents of the students, often minors, is not only that of having to see their children witnessing drug addicts taking narcotic substances throwing syringes on the ground or criminals and prostitutes ready to do anything to make a little change to buy the drugs, but above all there is the fear that some malicious drug dealer could approach them and convince them to try drugs of all kinds.
“I remember that the Higher Institute is located right in front of Via Lago di Capestrano, which leads to public housing – explains Pettinari with concern – a realm of desolate situations that are not worthy of a civilized city. Today the parents of the children who attend the Manthonè Institute loudly asked me to listen to their requests for help and to be the spokesperson for this serious situation, which they now experience with anguish and a sense of defeat”.
“It is our intention – explains Pettinari – to bring the military army here alongside the other security forces, to continuously patrol this dangerous quadrilateral. The fight against this phenomenon also involves increasing the number of cameras, which we will certainly install in Via Imele where, months after our legality walks, unfortunately little has changed, despite the presence of honest families living in owned homes, forced to barricade themselves in their homes for fear of drug addicts and thugs on the streets.”
A video surveillance system networked with a national “BLACK LIST” and license plate reading system, so as to allow each camera to be able to intercept stolen cars and trigger an “ALERT” to reach them and seize them.
“In this way we will be able to prevent many thefts and criminals – continues the candidate – by identifying those who enter this neighborhood with stolen cars and drugs to sell. We are convinced – concludes Pettinari – that only continuous patrolling will be able to reassure exhausted citizens while also restoring their trust in the institutions at their side”.
A hard line also regarding the illegal occupation of housing, a situation already denounced several times by Pettinari himself who announces “a strong action to combat squatters, through a census of all public housing occupied without any title, re-establishing legality and returning the Ater homes to honest citizens who have the right to them”.
