Journey to the opponent’s center | Potenza, team in crisis in a decisive phase
Descriptive text here

Team in difficulty who, after the latest defeat against Foggia, decided to dismiss the coach Marco Marchionni and the sporting director Natino Varrà. For Potenza, a moment of crisis, in a final phase that requires maximum effort. Team entrusted to the Primavera coach, Pietro De Giorgio.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES – There are many weak points in a team that has lacked continuity since the beginning of this season. Never a demonstration of strength and awareness, if not the period between the end of the first round and the beginning of the second round, when the rossoblù channeled three consecutive successes against Francavilla, Brindisi and Latina. Then the collapse, with only two wins in the next 15 games. Unexpected performance for a team that expected to fight for important positions and, precisely for this reason, the fluctuating results led to the dismissal of three coaches: Alberto Colombo, Franco Lerda and the very recent Marco Marchionni.

THE MOMENT – Delicate moment for the rossoblù now coached by coach Pietro De Giorgio, now the club’s former spring coach, now called to lead the team in the last two matches against Messina and Francavilla. As already mentioned, only two victories in the last 15 but, considering the recent moment, the situation is perhaps even more serious: after the narrow success against Picerno, which allowed us to take a breather, the knockouts slowly arrived with Cerignola, Taranto and Foggia, as well as a draw with Crotone. In the last two there have been 5 goals conceded and no goals scored, in a team that is therefore going through a complex moment, even more thorny if we consider the ranking situation and the few remaining commitments. Against Messina and Francavilla, Potenza must necessarily reverse course, with Turris just behind them and Monterosi not wanting to abandon the category, unless at least after having played in the play-outs.

POWER HERE – To delve deeper into the rossoblù’s moment we interviewed Alfonso Pecoraro, journalist from PotenzaRossoBlu. Delicate moment of the rossoblù’s season, with the clear defeat against Foggia and the dismissal of the Marchionni-Varrà duo: «The position is delicate, in a psychological moment that is not exciting. The choice to rely again on De Giorgio, already interim head coach in the transition between Lerda and Marchionni, is linked to the relationship that the spring coach had established. The objective is precisely to re-establish that relationship, reconstituting the team from a mental point of view.” A power that must think of itself but not only: «The challenges on other fields, such as those between Crotone and Monopoli and Turris and Monterosi, risk becoming fundamental for what will happen on the last day. What is certain is that it was completely unexpected to find ourselves here, after the year had started with the aim of relaunching and establishing ourselves in the top five places”.

PROBABLE FORMATION – Problems at Potenza, with various influences that will probably allow the players to be called up, but inevitably not at their best: «Basically they will all be recoverable, but not at their best. Schiattarella and Verrengia will be out due to suspension, the latter being injured therefore would not have been part of the match anyway. For the doubtful team already in goal, with Alastra among those affected by the flu. Should he not recover, Cucchietti is ready. The defense will be the expert one, with Hristov, Sbraga and Maddaloni. In midfield Candellori directs, next to him Castorani and Saporiti. Midfield wingers, Hadziosmanovic on the right, Burgio on the left. Caturano and Di Grazia in attack.”

POWER (3-5-2): Alastra; Hristov, Sbraga, Maddaloni; Hadziosmanovic, Saporiti, Candellori, Castorani, Burgio; Caturano, Di Grazia. All. De Giorgio
