Shock a Catania: a 14 year old is accused of conduct of child pornography towards one of his peers. A chilling fact emerged from the investigations conducted by the Cyber Security Operations Center of the Catania Postal Police and coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office. According to what has transpired so far, the minor is under investigation. In particular, he allegedly obtained images of intimate attitudes from the victim, whom he knew. Then, through a fake social profile, he began to blackmail her by asking for more photos and videos of the same content and threatening to disclose those already in his possession.
The victim, then, accompanied by her parents, immediately reported everything to the Postal Police, who did not take long to trace the alleged perpetrator. The agents were thus able to trace the person behind the fake profile. Person against whom the public prosecutor then issued a decree of search. Therefore, some IT devices were seized from the minor under investigation, from the analysis of which his responsibilities emerged.
Unfortunately, it is not the first time that incidents of this type have occurred, especially among minors: the Catania Prosecutor’s Office for minors, in fact, in recent months has received several reports from the Postal Police on illicit conduct committed by adolescents and regarding images of pornography. minors also obtained through Artificial Intelligence applications. This is the so-called “deep fake”, that is, artificially generated but very credible videos and photos. In this regard, the Postal Police underlined: “It must be highlighted that, if the subjects involved in sexual acts were minors, although these are not real situations, the conduct constitutes in any case a particularly serious crime”.
