After last year’s success, there is very little time left until the second edition of the walk.”100% Progetto Vita for sport” (scheduled for Saturday 4 May) and of the “Salvati-Salvatori relay” that will be run Sunday 5 May on the occasion of the 27th edition of the Placentia Half Marathon for Unicef, the Piacenza half marathon.

Two sporting events dedicated to Progetto Vita, the first European early defibrillation project “made in Piacenza”, presented on Saturday 20 April at the Nino Bixio Rowing Society. Both initiatives will be followed – among others – by volunteers from Anpas and Misericordia.

THE SALVATI-SALVATORI RELAY

The “Saved-Saviors Relay” will involve 21 saved thanks to the use of a defibrillator accompanied by 21 saviors, volunteers from the Armed Forces and local police who contributed to saving their lives.
“It’s about it – he explained Ernesto Grillo of Progetto Vita – of the only international relay of this kind and which conveys a very specific message: intervening with a defibrillator in the first minutes, rescuing a person suffering from cardiac arrest, not only saves a life, but often allows the “saved” person to resume their working activity and for many also to practice adequate sporting activity to benefit their quality of life”.

100% life project

“The 100% Progetto Vita per sport walk scheduled for Saturday 4 May, thanks to some Piacenza companies, will be aimed at the management and maintenance of the defibrillator network of the Province, the restoration and expansion of the AED signs on the running routes” he added Alessandro Confalonieriwho together with his former colleague and friend Pietro Perotti has been organizing the Piacenza half marathon since 1996.

Alessandro Speroni, who suffered cardiac arrest in 2022, will also take part in the relay. The promptness of two police officers, who were alerted and arrived on site with a defibrillator that they had equipped, saved him from death.
