Everything is ready in Massa Lubrense for the Feast of San Francesco di Paola, Co-Patron of the city, which will be held from 25 to 29 April. A rich program of religious, cultural and folkloristic events will enliven the coastal town for five days.
The program
The celebrations will begin Thursday 25 April with the Solemn Triduum, which will be held every evening at 7.00 pm in the Madonna della Salute Church. This will be followed by the Holy Mass and Eucharistic Adoration of Saint Francis of Paola.
Friday 26 April it will be the Day of the Third Order of the Minims, with the Holy Mass at 7.30 pm and the Renewal of the Tom Profession by the Tertiaries. During the celebration, the volume by Fr. Gian Franco Scarpitta “San Francesco di Paola. Life, events, personalities”, edited by Don Giuseppe Guglielmi.
Saturday 27 April it will be the Day of Sailors and Seafarers. At 7.30 pm the Holy Mass will be held with the participation of the Representatives of the Port Authority of Castellammare di Stabia and Massa Lubrense. This will be followed by the Sailor’s Prayer by the Seafarers and the entrustment to the Saint. At the end, a fish-based tasting will be held in the square in front of the Convent.
Sunday 28 April, the Feast of San Francesco di Paola, will begin with the Holy Mass at 6.30 am celebrated by Fr. Gian Franco Scarpitta. Other Holy Masses celebrated by various religious will follow. At 10.30 am the Act of entrustment of the children to the intercession of the Saint Paolano will be held, with the delivery of the Cord to the children present. In the afternoon, at 6.00 pm, the Holy Mass will be held celebrated by the Rev. Don Filippo Capaldo, Deputy Parish Priest of the Former Cathedral Parish of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Massa Lubrense. At the end, the Procession of the Simulacrum of the Saint will be held through the city streets.
Monday 29 April, Thanksgiving Day to the Saint, the recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7.00 pm, followed by the Holy Mass celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Giacomo D’Orta. Once finished, it will be held Tammorra and sacred songs in honor of Saint Francis, by the group A paranza r’u Tramuntan di Tramonti (You know). The lottery draw will follow.
On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th will be distributed “St. Francis cake”. The festive illuminations in the surrounding area will be managed by the Donnarumma company from Pimonte. The Simulacrum procession will be entertained by the Città di Massa Lubrense musical band.
